My sister-in-law sent me this photo recently.
To me
it's a metaphor for a
sweet and simple faith.
~
A Nativity Scene was erected in a church yard. During the night people walking by came across this scene: An abandoned dog was looking for a comfortable, protected place to sleep. He chose baby Jesus as his comfort. No one had the heart to send him away so he was there all night. We should all have the good sense of this dog and find comfort in Jesus. God is smiling as we realize that the dog's breed is a "shepherd!"
I read this psalm this morning and it's another wonderful
Christmas Surprise.
This psalm adds even more to what I think of and feel as I see the photo of the shepherd puppy.
Psalm 91
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”
Surely he will save you from the fowler’s snare
and from the deadly pestilence.
He will cover you with his feathers,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
You will not fear the terror of night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,
nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
nor the plague that destroys at midday.
A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
You will only observe with your eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked.
If you make the Most High your dwelling—
even the Lord, who is my refuge—
then no harm will befall you,
no disaster will come near your tent.
For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways;
they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
You will tread upon the lion and the cobra;
you will trample the great lion and the serpent.
“Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him;
I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
He will call upon me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him.
With long life will I satisfy him
and show him my salvation.”
Dear Friends and Family,
May you all find lasting comfort and shelter under His wings
dwelling in the shelter of the Most High.
ps. I hope the puppy found its home ♥

ReplyDeleteHere we are, off for the last week before the holidays. Have a happy week, not too much running. Do you celebrate at school in one way or the other? I enter school every morning in completely darkness {during the Advent season}. Just a few candles are lit in the big hall and the corridors. Soft singing in the kindergarten classrooms. In the big hall there is piano music, or violin or (children) choir, every day something different. All the classes listen in completely silence and after 10 minutes everyone walks to its classroom to start the day. Us parents, go home to start our day. A beautiful tradition! Francis' class is a most gorgeous room throughout the year, but during the Advent season it's extra beautiful. Francis soft singing, me delivering Celeste and cycling back home filled with lots of inner joy.
Have a most loveliest evening, sweet Maria xxxxx
Maria~What a precious reminder that ALL Gods creatures seek comfort. I hope this sweet pup found a permanent home after this tender event.
ReplyDeleteSweet wishes,
