It doesn't match Maria's house ~ but it matches Maria.
{The hand painted stationary was made by my sister for our first anniversary in 1979}
I'm looking forward to a wonderful week off from work.
It starts tomorrow afternoon with a 3-day trip to my father's.
My sister and I will talk and laugh and enjoy time with our Dad.
Then I'll come home on Sunday
and find stationary and cards that are not in their place,
and introduce them to their new home.

ReplyDeleteI can really feel and relate to your excitement. I've recently inherited my Grandmother's secretary! Yes and I love the little key.

Your secretary is a beauty, Maria, exactly the right size too! Your dishes really do look happy in there. I can picture you almost sitting at that lovely petit desk writing cards and letters to family and friends. I will send you some Dutch cards along with the flower seeds in a couple of weeks.
ReplyDeleteTo be a week off of school must give a great feeling. Have a safe trip to your father's and do enjoy every moment spend with your sister and dad. Sweet moments you will be looking back at in the far future.
My weekend will include family and festivity too, I am making soup, baking a cake and tonight I will put up the banners and balloons, cause tomorrow the festivities are off with Quinten turning 3.
Have a wonderful time ahead, Maria xxxx
What a beautiful secretary filled with beautiful dishes! So Pretty!
ReplyDeleteI hope that you got your date bars done last night so that you and your sister can munch away as you travel to your dad's. ENJOY your time with both of them. What a blessing to be able to visit.

Isn't it fun to get a new treasure. I actually have my grandparent's secretary and it is very similiar. I keep seeing them popping up on blogs and I'm thinking I should pull her out of hiding in my "office/daughter's room" and make her look pretty in the living room.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful visit with your sister and your dad. I know how special those moments can be:)
Very nice thing!
ReplyDeleteWish you a happy trip and weekend:-)

ReplyDeleteOh what a beautiful piece you have found. I love this secretary desk. It is absolutely exquisite. What a beautiful way to display your china. I love seeing the cups and saucers and the little teapots inside. That little blue bird tea pot is stunning. It just hopped right out and grabbed the old heart. I love it.

What a lovely secretary, and the tea pieces are just beautiful with it. The contrast of colors is just perfect.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure your week off was/will be WONDERFUL! The secretary is so very charming. I like the lining in the drawer, too...
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful way to sort and store all manner of things.
Sounds like a fun weekend!
ReplyDeleteI had no idea that you use the word secretary for this piece of furniture. We call it a bureau, but I have never seen one with a cabinet on top of the lower part.
