May All Your Blues be Birds!

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take,
but by the moments that take our breath away.

Bluebird outside my sister-in-law, Devon's kitchen window
They are enjoying the winter holly berries!
{Thank you for this amazing photo, Devon ~ Happy New Year to you!}
This summer I saw my second ever bluebird at our cousin's house.
It took my breath away!

Look at the birds of the air;
they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them.
Are you not much more valuable than they?
Matthew 6:26

If there is no response in you to the awakening of nature
-if the prospect of an early morning walk does not banish sleep,
if the warble of the first bluebird does not thrill you
-know that the morning and spring of your life are past.
Thus may you feel your pulse.
- Henry D. Thoreau

Mister Bluebird's on my shoulder,
It's the truth, it's actual, Ev'rything is satisfactual,
Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay,  Wonderful feeling, wonderful day...
The Song of the South words by Ray Gilbert, 1945

Somewhere the bluebird is singing,
And somewhere the skies are blue.
So lift up your head to the skies And be happy
For this is true: Somewhere the bluebird is singing
And winging his way to you.

Dear Family and Friends,
May this new year be filled with moments that are amazing
and leave you breathless and may all your
blues be birds!

  14. Well hello dearest sweet Maria, this fresh year is off to a fresh start, isn't it? Your lovely post is oh so refreshing!
We are back home after hanging upside down, spinning around, carrying around my littlest ones Q&C, hanging upside down some more, for four days. It was fun. But I must confess I think getting back in the routine of daily life is fun too ^_~
Lots of Love to YOU xxxx Enjoy the new week of the new month of the new year xxxx

  15. We put the bird feeder out over the weekend. The birds haven't found it yet...it is a new one, I hope they aren't afraid of it!

I'm a bit worried about that Thoreau quote. I love nature...but and early morning walk doesn't really banish sleep:)

I'm so behind in my blogging...travel, company and stuff. Hope to catch up in the next few days!

    Happy New Year!

  17. Oh Marie ~ wonderful post, and interesting, my husband has loved Song of the South since he was a boy, and Disney has a lock on it for 12 more years, due to "Political Correctness" ~~ But my daughter's girlfriend found it on an old hard drive and made a copy for her Dad for Christmas.... We've been singing Zip-a-dee-doo-dah....since Christmas!!!

    Love and Hugs

  25. Your bird quotes brought to mind the words by Redford, playing Blixen's Denys George Finch Hatton in OUT OF AFRICA. Wish I could recall the exact phrase--something about a bird living its life to the fullest with no complaint right up until the moment it drops dead on a freezing winter day? Not sure if the phrase is from the book. Dang, gonna hafta reread the novel just to find out...
