A Sunrise and Sunset of Orange Sherbet {Sky Watch Friday!}

It was back to school this week.
The kids were buzzing about their Christmas surprises...
...and I was happy to hear that some of them received books as gifts.
*     *     *
Even though we are on the brighter side of the winter solstice,
the sun still sets pretty early.
Each time I leave school on the later side of the day, a beautiful gift waits for me.
a beautiful sunset

On the 4th, the sunset gave me a smile and a simile .
The sunset was like orange sherbet.

The sunrise this morning treated me to the same

~ orange sherbet ~

  and on the way home a sundog that was like rainbow sherbet!

We're supposed to get snow tonight and tomorrow.

When my children were younger, and a storm was approaching, they always checked with me to see if we would have a delay or better yet, a snowday.  {I was almost always right}.  Well, my prediction is that we'll have school on time tomorrow... the snow will come... and MAYBE we'll go home early {maybe}.
~ We'll see ~

  10. Oh my, you've made me hungry to taste some of that orange sherbet. Guess I will have to drive the few blocks from my house tomorrow evening to enjoy the sunset. Can't see it from here.

    Simply beautiful, sweet friend.

    Love,
    D.

  11. Very beautiful sky Maria!
    I wonder if Maria wants a snow day? The schools here now have automated calls when school is canceled! It is very convenient, I don't have to get up so early to watch the news!
    Love Di ♥

  12. We had one of those orange sherbet skies just last night Maria, and then it turned to a deep pink. I longed to take a picture - like the ones you take. It is so lovely to capture those beautiful colors.
    I hope the kids get a snow day :-)

  15. The sun's rays make beautiful watercolors of the sky, Maria. Your photos make me smile, too. Perhaps the sundog portends the coming storm. Enjoy the snow!

  18. So beautiful always..... your pictures .
    Not only are your eyes open to see the beauty but also you make the pictures and place them on your blog so we all can enjoy all of it with you ! I'm inside my house for three weeks now . Can you believe that . I long for some fresh air and a very large horizon .But it's getting better and I can stand on my feet a little . I'm not at school and that's very hard for me .
    Sometimes you have to adjust !
    The one good thing in all of this is the peace it brings .
    Not being busy for every-one and everything but just ME MYSELF AND I . Sounds selfish ..
    I am able to read the book of despereaux I ordered after you mentioned it a while ago.
    Chapter forty-one is waiting so I'm of to read and wish you a peaceful loving weekend .

  19. And? Did you come home early today? ^_^ All our snow has finally disappeared. It's raining. And the weekend is at our doorstep, yahoo!
    I stimulate books to my little ones too. Once a while I hide a book on their pillows. When it takes too long they start asking, when will you place a book on our pillows again? Just yesterday I found out that Donald Duck is having a Junior edition, every two weeks. 6 year old Bresten is able to read it. My heart jumped for joy, cannot explain why. Just love the sight of reading little monkeys curled up in a chair.
    Lots of love to you, dearest sweet Maria. Have a wonderful, relaxing weekend. We'll not see about that, we'll do it >^_^<
