It's Just Me and My Apples and Sky Watching through the trees...

The Empires are ready this week.

They are so red, they almost have a purple hue.

Pure sunshine has done wonders for their skin.

Did you know that

Quercetin is found only in the apple skin.

The skin also contains more antioxidants and fiber than the flesh.

We're eating these apples all up

~ skin and all ~

since they've never been sprayed with anything except

rain!

Some interesting facts about quercetin.

Quercetin is a flavonol that constitutes the major bioflavonoid sources in the human diet. The glycoside form is readily available in dietary plants such as teas, onions, apple and buckwheat. Quercetin is thought to have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-allergy properties. In vitro data suggest quercetin may have anti-cancer effects, but more clinical study is needed to explore this potential. No significant adverse events have been reported for this product.

It's found in teas, onions, apples, buckwheat

Research is seeking more evidence of Quercetin's help with

• Cancer prevention
• Cancer treatment
• Cardiovascular disease
• Inflamation

Contrary to popular belief, there is no mention of an apple as the forbidden fruit in the Bible. It is referred to as "fruit from the Tree of Knowledge" with no specification as to which kind of fruit. It was Hugo Van Der Goes who first implicated the apple as the forbidden fruit in his 1470 A.D. painting, The Fall of Man. After that, it became popular to depict the apple as the forbidden fruit.

JOY

of meeting such

beautiful people here in blogland.

One of them is Ruth.

This summer, Ruth hosted a huge garage sale that raised money for women in need.

She wrote:

  "We are trying to raise money to purchase items
needed to make "layette packs" for families in the
surrounding area that have little to no support.
And sometimes nothing much to give their child.

It broke my heart when someone told me how
some women come home from the hospital without
so much as a blanket for their baby. It's a different
world than the one I live in. How about you?"

The sale was a great success and she was able to assemble a dozen layettes for the truly needy.
