Momma birdie necklaces

This weekend, Ann Voskamp posted about how

What a beautiful way to think of joy and God's sweet gift of Grace.
...such inspiring words...

Ann also added a link to a tutorial for making these sweet nest necklaces:

Thank you, Sarah Ortega!

I have always wanted one of these nest necklaces.
Inspired by Ann and by Sarah's easy directions... I had to make one myself!

I bought two kinds of silver wire and two kinds of beads
and got to work.

I really enjoyed myself making these necklaces.
It was so much more fun than cleaning the house!

If you have read Ann Voskamp's book "One Thousand Gifts,"
do head over to read her recent post on what she was able to give as a result of her profits.
The story of Pastor Saul will fill your heart.

I hope you have been having a wonderful week..
Here in the northeast, we've been spoiled with our weather...
I think that will change as we enter into the weekend,
but ohhhh
I am so grateful for this easing into winter!

  1. Hi Maria,
The weather has been unusually mild everywhere. Lets just enjoy it while it's here. We're supposed to have a bit of snow tomorrow.
The necklaces were beautiful! What a great gift idea.
    Love Di ♥

  4. Did you make these yourself, Maria? They are very pretty! The blue color in particular, it's absolutely beautiful. The joy you are going to feel when wearing these lovelies handmade by yourself which makes them even more beautiful and special. I have heard a lot about this book, must google it to find out if I should buy it.
Have a lovely day, sweet Maria. Keep warm xxx

  5. What a lovely way to think of things and such beautiful necklaces! I love the robin's egg blue beads...a favorite color of mine and makes me think of spring. We have had wonderful weather...in the 50's yesterday. But, raining right now and a winter storm watch for tomorrow with snow and wind. We've been so lucky, I guess I won't complain about a hint of winter on the way!

  6. So delicate! I'm guessing it's satisfying and relaxing to string the beads and create with your hands after teaching! The blue are my favorite!

  8. MY SWEET MARIA!

Oh dearest, these designs are near and dear to my heart, for anything to do with the gentle and beautiful artwork of a BIRD and her nest just captivates me! I made a little bird cage once similar to this...with little pearls as eggs!

Oh dear one, LIKE YOU, I have been coming home to crash on the sofa. Seems as if our 2 week Christmas vacation really relaxed me and now, getting UP to go to school is tough. I was so late in getting up this morning i was unable to get to my blog comments! THANK YOU FOR VISITING ME. I hope you had a chance to see the Butterfly Effect chez Ruben. It is powerful and when i saw it on Saturday, I had just come from a colleague's funeral. To see how many former students came to give tribute to him was a tear-jerker. THEN I CAME HOME TO SEE WHAT RUBEN HAD POSTED. Unbelievable how our God links us together. Yes I am praying for our dear Francis.....we must hold each other up always.

    LOVE TO YOU! Anita

  13. Oh my these are beautiful!! I cannot believe you made them!! You are like my husband who also always enjoys a warmer winter, lol! We are getting a little snow tonight, but nothing like we have had the past two years. Is has been very strange here...yesterday 55 degrees, a thunder storm, hail, tornado about an hour from here, now snow. Thanks so much for stopping by. Funny, I was just thinking of you yesterday. We actually got a range hood instead of a builtin microwave, so I did a very simple tile backsplash today--my first! We still do not have a microwave yet, though. I really want to put it in the island when we change it, but not sure when that will be. Take care!!!

  17. GOOD MORNING PRECIOUS!

Oh how I love these necklaces...and to see them again! OH YES, I did have MLK Day off and it was splendid. I got all my Etsy orders done, only to sell THREE MORE of my wands yesterday. I am really busy with school as you are; I GOT TWO NEW STUDENTS...TWIN boy and girl and I have so much to do with them to get them settled in academically and socially. I am leaving the latter up to my social committee (the girls!)

THANK YOU PRECIOUS ONE for your visit! LOVE! Anita
