Rain, Rain Go Away!

The last few days were hot {85° F. in my classroom}
and very, very humid.
We've had lots of
rain!

I like waving good-bye to that kind of weather.
~ but ~
it's been nothing compared to what the south has endured.

I pray for all of you who have been devastated by the severe weather
and tornadoes.

. . . Wishing all of you sunny weather . . .

. . . and most of all . . .
wishing you love, comfort and joy,

  6. Now that you're finished with the rain, perhaps you could send it to us Maria! We are experiencing a drought, while others are suffering from floods and tornadoes. It has really been crazy.
    Glad you've got some sunshine!

  7. Lovely pictures. I don't do well in humidity.

I add my prayers as I see the horrible aftermath from those Tornados in the South.

  8. The Bible says that God causes the rain to fall on the just and the wicked. I suppose it keeps us from pointing fingers in question of each other's actions.(smile)

I know that one year I prayed and prayed for the rain to stop. Finally it did, but a drought ensued and I was, once again, praying for rain!

North Carolina is my home. I found myself crying for strangers in Alabama. Having survived a terrible event, years ago, I know the blessings are still to come for them. I remember reaching out my hand in friendship to unknown neighbors... helping them to stand, as someone had helped me to stand.

So I pray for lots of reaching hands. There are so many who are not yet standing. With God all things are possible.

Excuse the long comment. Those of us from the South thank you.

    Love. Dixie

  10. So glad everything is going well with your son...oh my I haven't gone through that yet!

My pictures of the pianos were on Saturday and some on Sunday...funny to think we might have passed each other and not known it. I just wanted you to see the city. It has changed so much since we moved...not the city I lived in for 38 years...I cried over it not looking like home...still Austin, but really changed.

Let me know if we can help in any other ways...we still know a lot of people and family is there.

    Blessings

  11. Hi, Maria. Your prayers for the south are much needed and appreciated. An EF-4 tornado swept through our historic little town on Wednesday evening. It came within a quarter of a mile or less of my daughter and son-in-law's house. (They were staying with us that evening.) It was headed STRAIGHT at their neighborhood, but it took a sharp turn and went right down our main street, wiping out business after business, home after home. Then the tornado veered off that street and almost completely destroyed the middle school and severely damaged the high school. It went up a road that heads north out of town, but it jumped the ridge and traveled up a parallel road. Here it literally demolished dozens and dozens of homes. A dear friend at church huddled in a neighbor's basement with her four young children while the tornado ravaged their community. Firefighters were able to rescue our friends from the demolished home, and they are safe and sound, praise God. Our town will never be the same. There are many people missing--a number of them are teenagers who worked at the fast food restaurants near the Interstate. The restaurants and hotels were hit hard and many of the workers and customers are injured or missing. The news is only reporting the number of identified bodies. There are still dozens missing or unidentified. Power is out in the city limits, water must be boiled, and up until just a few minutes ago, no one could get in or out of the city. We just heard that residents may come in to retrieve items and see their homes if they have a valid ID showing their residency. School has been canceled until May 9 to allow for restoration of power and clean up of the county.
I know our town is just one of many towns hit hard by these massive tornadoes, and my heart is breaking for all those who have been affected by these powerful storms across the south. May God be worshiped and glorified through this tragedy. Thank you for praying!

  16. Maria, thank you so much for your care and concern and prayers! I listened to a news conference a few minutes ago, and the final total of deaths for our county is 8--and 7 of those were on the road behind the ridge we live on (we live near the foot of this ridge)and the other one was in the heart of our little town. There were approximately 30 people who received minor to severe injuries in our town. All missing individuals have been found. Original reports indicated a much higher death toll. We are thankful that it wasn't any higher, but nothing can take away the pain of the loss of those 8 precious people. My daughter was allowed to enter the city today with her ID showing she is a resident. She was able to check on her house, and it is in great shape--nothing worse than an overturned porch chair, some pottery blown off the porch table, and a missing shingle. Other houses in her neighborhood suffered more damage, but nothing like the damage in heart of the town or up the valley road. That tornado truly came very close to their house. I would love to share some photos with you, but I don't want to send a link publicly. If you want to send me your email address via my blog, I will put on comment moderation so it won't go public. Thank you again for your prayers! Sandy

  17. I didn't mention that the area death toll is more than 75. The devastation is just incredible, so I am shocked that more people were not injured. Our local weather teams did an outstanding job of keeping everyone informed of the situation, and I'm sure this helped people get to safety in time. I am a firm believer in taking ALL tornado warnings seriously! Do not think it can't happen to you or that a tornado could not travel through your neighborhood. We were surprised to discover that the tornado traveled over and ON a ridge. Granted, it is not a mountain, but it's a good-sized ridge! Take all weather warnings very seriously, and take appropriate safety measures. It CAN happen.

  18. Oh, I would love to make it go away. It was very humid in Hershey to. Temperature is much more better now! We are in New Brunswick at the moment, do you know NB, well off course you do. We drove to Staten Island and hopped on the ferry to take us to Manhattan. Tomorrow once again, or perhaps by Amtrak.
We think of going to Long Branch on Sunday and Monday. Not sure about it yet.
The sweetest dreams for now, my friend xxxx
