a first snow

We're having our first snow tonight!

Little Maria is gathering snowflakes.

My plants and flowers were brought indoors.

I potted my geraniums which still have lots of buds
and they will be on my windowsill at school until next spring.
The children will cheer in April when the buds return.

...in the meantime...
I just told my 5th graders yesterday that we would read
"A Really Good Snowman"
when it snows and the snow sticks...
So far, it's sticking!
This book was written and illustrated by one of my former students
Daniel Mahoney.

{Oh did he love to draw and still does today!}

Enjoy your weather in Austin, Jason.

What's it like at your place?
 Whatever the weather,
I wish you JOY
and a happy weekend!

Love,

  6. Yes, Maria, I sent a little snow cloud from CO to you so you have a bit of white for the weekend. I hope you like it! It snowed for about 30 hours here in Breckenridge, and now I live in a spangled world.

  10. Goodness me, already? I must admit we had a very mild autumn until now, and little rain, very much needed now. But snow? I say that today, looking onto lovely sunshine and mild breeze, but who knows what we'll have in a week's time! Well, wrap up, keep warm, and keep us in the picture! Take care, Lori xxx

  11. Oh, snow. Hope it is a while before it comes here..
No bad weather, only bad clouts we say in Norway.
I do not now what this degrees means.., but we have 12 degrees and sun today.

  12. You sound much happier about snow than I would be! We are having the perfect fall day. It is sunny and 52 degrees outside. I actually have my patio door open for a little while. We are expecting 60-something over the weekend. Tomorrow is my birthday, so if I have sunshine...I'm happy!

  13. Woo hoo, what is going on with Mr. Weather! We have had some warm days (too warm for the time of year) and you have welcomed the first snowflakes.
What will your weekend be like, Maria. More snow to come? Rather warm and rain-free days are awaiting us. We have a swimming exam and a friend-sleepover on the roll. Fun fun fun. Enjoy a lovely Friday night, I think that the best evening of the week! xo xo xo xo

  14. Hi Maria,
Well, I am improving and it seems like a slow process. For some reason I got it in my head that I would be good as new in about 4 wks--it has been 7 and will be many more before I am totally back

    but

I have had some really good days lately and I can tell that my strength is coming back

also my desire to blog, write etc. are returning. For a while I thought I would care about those things again.

I'm so jealous--your first snow--how cozy--yesterday was the start of our finally "cooling off" some.

First time we've had on any heat is today--and I am enjoying it.

Have fun at your dad's this weekend. You made me hungry with the beautiful apples.

I bet you serve up something really delish!

    Love you dear friend.

    Dianne
