Laundry soap Grandma's way!

Recipe found the modern way!

I have been enjoying Pinterest for a few months now.
If you haven't been there, OH...
you will love it and revisit it often!

It's a very organized way to save your bookmarked webpages
with an accompanying photograph from the website.

I used it to find inspiration for my kitchen
and now, I'm finding more wonderful things for home and school.

This weekend, I decided to try this simple laundry soap recipe
that I repinned from Yvonne's Pinterest page.

{such simple ingredients}

After grating the Fels-Naptha soap and mixing all the rest of the ingredients
{I used a large soup pot lined with a plastic bag}
the kitchen smelled so fresh!
It looks like this when it's all mixed:

 Things are progressing with our kitchen.
I'm very slowly putting things away...
...trying to store only the things that I know I'll use and
put the rest in the old cabinets that will be hung in the basement someday.
We hope to have the counter top and sink installed by next week.
'Til then, we are using a tiny sink that is down stairs.

The sun was spectacular this weekend and will be for another day.
I can't help but smile!

Wishing you all a lovely week!

  9. Homemade laundry soap, off course homemade laundry soap, why not? I know homemade bread, cake, jam, but had never thought of soap. It would make a lovely 'Happy Spring Cleaning' gift!
    Our school day has come to an end, yours is just off. I am picturing you in front of your class room, Maria. Do you have 'your apples' up on your windows?
    Have a joyful midweek!

  12. You've brought back memories with that Fels-Naptha. I had no idea it was made anymore. That was my mother's #1 remedy for poison ivy itching. (Lather it on and let it dry - not pleasant but effective.) Glad you'll soon be able to use your kitchen.

  14. GOOD MORNING DEAREST!!!!!!!!!!! This new post of yours did NOT appear on my new posts for my favorite blogs! Oh I detest when I miss a new post! I LOVE PINTEREST! But I forgot my PASSWORD SO I HAVE NOT PINNED SINCE the summer! AND LIKE YOU, I am burning the candle at both ends and disliking it very much! This soap recipe looks wonderful and looks like a project for me during winter break.

    YOUR KITCHEN MUST BE COMING ALONG SO WELL! And I so love the fresh new white look you have going on! Oh dearest, I am so tired and like you, I so miss the summer days when I was home to read poetry, create blog posts that showed promise of my writing, and just having more freedom! I am lucky to be HERE AT THIS MOMENT writing a comment, because I have to run now to get to class....do you have what is called RTI going on in your school? It is a GOOD IDEA in theory, but to practice it is really going to take A LOT OF GETTING USED TO...

    Dearest, I wish you happiness, success in your kitchen work and PEACE AND CALM in your heart as you too tackle the daily pressures of teaching!

    GROSSES BISES MON AMIE and thank you for visiting and for your well-wishes for my Etsy!!!!
