peace

"Lifelong prayer brings peace to your lion's den."

 via

Last week, the associate pastor of the church we attend, spoke those words.
Those words settled deep in my soul.
I needed to hear them.

We all have our own lion's dens.

This summer, I looked into the "eyes" of the three overstuffed bedrooms
where my children stayed... as little ones and as adults...
With Chris' help and God's daily offering of Grace
we brought peace to that lion's den that seemed so daunting.
Ahhh Peace!

Another lion's den I face is what has become of my profession.
The jaws of government wait.
The evaluations will be impersonal and litigious.

It's easy to feel like a small animal who spends unimaginable time and effort
trying to avoid becoming prey...

* instead *

I will pray every day for my school, colleagues and students
and bring PEACE
to this lion's den.

...just had to share this with you, my friends and family

  1. I agree Maria, prayer brings peace everyday even in the simple tasks we do. Especially then. Good luck with your evaluation or whatever it is.
    Love Di ♥

  2. Do not FEAR what "man" may do to you! God hasn't given us a spirit of fear but of power, love and self-control. As He give you peace, you will carry it into your "Lions' Den", Maria. Your colleagues and students will be so blessed by your presence!

  3. Hi, Maria, my friend,
I know so well the "state of our education system", the testing, the evaluations, the paperwork, etc. There is a true art to teaching, and I know you have it for sure!! I am praying for continued peace for you and a fulfilling, happy school year ahead for you. Your home is looking very lovely with all the room make-overs you are doing. Have a blessed Sunday~ Vicki

  4. GOOD MORNING MY BEAUTIFUL FRIEND!

Oh Maria, I was off for an entire week and I missed everyone SO MUCH. My girlfriend from Texas stayed with me and we had a lovely time. I THANK YOU FOR VISITING TODAY!

Oh my dear heart, I SO HEAR what you are saying here! I resigned because of the very reason of which you speak here. The art of teaching is just as important as the science of teaching but when one gets choked out (the art), the other will surely suffer. Teachers AND students alike feel the tension. Peace is the ingredient that gives each of us the courage to make learning happen and help mend broken spirits. I WISH YOU THE MOST success in your prayers and getting that LION'S DEN tame!

Oh how it feels good to come back "home" where the creative souls reside. Anita

  7. What a good word from your Assoc. Pastor. You are right, we all have our lion dens.. Our pastor spoke on David and Goliath...and we all those those giants in our life too... Prayer to conquer both.

Nice post...loved reading it and the pictures are wonderful.. I did a watercolor of a Lion and cub, that was fun.

  8. Follow your heart, Maria, because what is inside you is good. Insulate yourself as much as possible from negative outside stress. Pray for calm and understanding. Enjoy your respite!

  10. This is my first visit here, and so I am out of the loop, but agree that the lion's den is both daunting and conquerable, with the help of our Savior.

  11. Dear Maria,
This message is beautiful! Great sermon to be preached. I will say a prayer for your job. Must be really frustrating. God knows all...He is the Prince of Peace!

We are in need of some closet cleaning too. Our daughters still have a bunch of their stuff here in our closets and garage. The oldest daughter cleared a few bags for a curbside donation pickup this week. She has a lot more to go. But doesn't have a big enough home to store the rest. Someday...:)

Your painted rooms are beautiful!! I am still working on the bathroom I started on. Getting ready to leave in about a week for a trip to Wisconsin though. Busy!! Your rooms here will inspire me to stick with the task...:)SO calming!!!

    Blessings to you,
    xoxo...Gloria
