~ I will honor Christmas in my heart ~

Great little One! whose all-embracing birth
Lifts Earth to Heaven, stoops Heaven to Earth.

It is Christmas in the heart that puts Christmas in the air.

Love is what's in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen.
~
As we cook, bake and put the final touches to our packages
let us remember to honor Christmas in our hearts.
~ Peace to you, dear friends ~

  5. Sweet Maria , I will most surely think about you tomorrow . When I am sitting in my warm living room . On my red big sofa . Looking at the most beautiful christmastree ( MY TREE HIHI )
Very simple decorated , just minilights and red bals big ones and little ones . In the top a beautiful golden lacy STAR .
Also almost in the top a very beautiful angel made of combed wool . The angel has a little baby in her arms .
We don't have presents under the tree . Here in Holland that wasn't a tradition . We have our presents with SINTERKLAAS december 5 !
Christmas was a christian feast .
Going to church , and telling beautiful stories , singing the christian songs . And of course special dinners .
I still cannot get used to presents under the tree . It is becoming more and more a new tradition overhere . The stores are doing well . But Christmas is becoming a whole other feast this way . I don't know if you can understand what I try to explain .
I absolutely understand in your country everything has always been the way you do it . With the stockings and the decorations and .... the presents .
SO ..... under my tree its quiet .
When I was a child we all received a new book in church . I always was a reader but we did not have many books for ourselfs . We lent them in the library in my school Each week a new one . So a book to keep was a BIG event. When my children were little I gave them a book for Christmas . Now they are less reading ( in books ) and more watching ( tv and internet ) .
But I'll be thinking of you because you always now how to bring on the simple but special things of life , in beautiful words or pictures.
ENJOY ENJOY ENJOY with your loved ones !

  10. Wonderful Christmas photos on the last several posts, Maria. I can almost taste those "kiss" cookies! I hope you're having a wonderful celebration today. We've been on-the-go since 4:30 this AM - I'm thinking I might need a rest! Have a good vacation, Maria!

  12. Beautiful Christmas pictures and oh, how my mom loved those peanut butter kisses. She had a different recipe though, didn't make them with bisquick. She was a big big cookie baker! If you would like the recipe sometime, let me know. They're so cute!

  15. Hi, Maria! Just saw your post on my very neglected blog. All is well here. We had all of our kids and grandkids with us for Christmas this year. It's been noisy and fun. Three of the grandkids got sick with a nasty upper respiratory virus (one with an ear infection, too), and the fourth punctured his forehead on Christmas day. He bled quite profusely, but my sister--our own family nurse practitioner--came to the rescue. Did I mention that it's been a noisy Christmas??? But it's beautiful noise that I wouldn't trade for anything in the world.

I trust you had a lovely Christmas with your family. May God continue to bless you throughout the new year!
