  2. oh, what a lovely thought and photo.

i think i know who that actress is in the
photo the girl is comparing herself to,
because she was the star in one of my
mother in law's first movies, "a woman i
    n hiding."

my mother in law, peggy dow, tried to
explain to her mother why she got the
part of the bad girl and not the good
girl, saying, "but mom, that part went
    to ida lupine!"

    one of my favorite stories.

    thanks for the memory!

  4. Don't you just love Norman Rockwell--and the mind of that little girl, the thoughts he has captured are staggering.......haven't we all been there?

Yes, you do always remind us of what is important and I love that.

Hope your coming week of school is great--you have started back, right??

    Love,
    Dianne

  8. What sweet picture, Maria, the little lady must be very happy to live under your mirror. Such lovely idea, to get a glimpse of her a couple of times a day. I had never heard of Norman Rockwell, perhaps because I'm from another generation? I adore this kind of images. Off to google Mr. Rockwell.
I wish you lots of Joy and Fun in the new school year, dearest Maria. xxx

  10. Oh, Maria, this is just so delightful, and I echo the other comments. As young girls growing up we were all hoping, comparing, testing. Thankfully our fears over the years diminished when we all learnt the truth: we are children of God and He is the one who sees our beautiful faces and souls in the mirror of life! No matter where on this earth we were born,us girls are the delicate creation of one God! Kisses, Lori xxx

  15. Maria,
Just a quick hello. The boxes are unpacked, the pictures hung - just a few more projects to do and then we will feel settled in our new place. Can't wait to get blogging again! Thank you for your recent visit and comments on your dad. Hope he is doing better.
Love the apple shots - It makes me miss upstate NY. I have fond memories of picking apples there in the fall.

  19. Oh my dear,
This is so true...if He is the center of our thoughts...the thought we start the day with...the design of our prayer...and what we strive to be...outward appearances just don't seem important anymore...
I love Mondays, because I have an hour drive into Vancouver. The drive in, is my time to talk and praise, and ponder His gracious gifts...to request {these are always many}and ask for wisdom for the day ahead{a must}...and by the time I get to my destination, there is an inner peace, that is beautiful, a minute residue that is left behind...it just makes my whole being "HAPPY"...and the superficial things of this world are just not important...I Love this post{can you tell?}...I shall miss you dear one...but will be thinking of you daily while I enjoy a bit of painting BLISS...enjoy the week, my sweet friend...xoxo...Rosie
