It's Time To Put My Audrey Gloves On!

“I was asked to act when I couldn't act.
I was asked to sing 'Funny Face' when I couldn't sing,
and dance with Fred Astaire when I couldn't dance
- and do all kinds of things I wasn't prepared for.
Then I tried like mad to cope with it.”
-Audrey Hepburn

~ ~ ~
I told my self to clean the house when I'm very inefficient and distracted;
I was asked to cook and entertain when I struggle with what and how to cook it.
I need to be 'cool' in the summer heat.

Thinking now,
What would Audrey do?

Try like mad!
and wear bright and cheery work gloves :D

...My gloves are bright yellow..
I saw these pink ones at Bed, Bath and Beyond and they are now on my wish list!

The baking is done!
...but now...

Back to my  "cooking"
...making shish cabobs with lots of veggies on rice for our guests tonight...
I can do that!
But, I'd better get up from here and try like mad :D
Guests are arriving today!

~ Keeping another Audrey quote in mind ~
“For me, the only things of interest are those linked to the heart.”

Oh, Maria, one of your gifts is absolutely optimism--seeing the good in all situations and using it to encourage others. Now, I am going to go put on my audrey gloves and paint a picture that I do not know how to paint. My gloves are multi-colored paints--my hands will be covered when I am through. Love, D.

My rubber gloves are bright purple...why is it that it makes the work seem easier if the gloves are pretty!

I hope everything went well with your guests...have a wonderful night!

Maria~I adore Audrey! She puts the fem in femininity. All eyes will be on your menu, not the the dishes in the sink. Your guest will delighted with your rhubarb confections too.

When I've got an abundance of fruit I prepare this simple tart recipe, which can be applied to your rhubarb as well.

1. Prepare a favored sugar cookie dough. This will be rolled to form top crust for the tart.

2. Dice & cook rhubarb with strawberry jam or any flavor jam/ preserve that pairs with rhubarb.

3. When the rhubarb is 3/4 cook, fill individual ramekins with the fruit compote.

4. Cover with rolled cookie dough.
trim the edges. When time permits...I'll embellish with cookie cut outs.

5. Bake until golden brown.
325 degrees 12-15 mins. Serve hot ala mode.

Sweet wishes,

Love this! I was crazy about Audrey Hepburn in my teens (still am). There's no reason kitchen gloves shouldn't have a little style!

We are finally in our new home and I can't wait to blog about it. I still have some boxes to unpack and lots of organizing to do but I couldn't resist visiting a few bloggy friends.

We have wonderful trails behind our neighborhood that we have been walking in the evening. There are mountain views and a huge prairie expanse of sky. I totally thought of you last night when I was looking up at all the cloud formations - you always have great cloud photos.

Looking forward to catching up!
