A Tote of Friendship Quotes

Friendship isn't a big thing - it's a million little things.
I value the friend who for me finds time on his calendar,
but I cherish the friend who for me does not consult his calendar.
~Robert Brault
A good friend is cheaper than therapy.

The most I can do for my friend is simply be his friend.
~Henry David Thoreau

Friendship is unnecessary, like philosophy, like art.... It has no survival value;
rather it is one of those things that give value to survival.
~C.S. Lewis

The best kind of friend is the one you could sit on a porch with, never saying a word,
and walk away feeling like that was the best conversation you've had.

The language of friendship is not words but meanings.
~Henry David Thoreau

A true friend is one who thinks you are a good egg even if you are half-cracked.

Each friend represents a world in us, a world possibly not born until they arrive.
~Anäis Nin

Friends are relatives you make for yourself.
~Eustache Deschamps

Yes'm, old friends is always best,
'less you can catch a new one that's fit to make an old one out of.

"She can't sleep if ..."

...a slice of pie is still left in the refrigerator."

Mom used to say this about me
...it's still true...

. . .

So, I ate the last piece of raspberry pie

I bought the shoes...

Hills and Mountains

My son, Jason, took these photos a few weeks ago,
while on a father-son hike in the Adirondack Mts.

{I'll bet you a picture of something ordinary,
like leaves,
can look amazing.}

Yes it can!

{I'll bet you mom will love this heart made of trees and sky}

Yes, she does!

...and these waterfalls...

Meanwhile, here at home, in the wee hills of the Helderbergs...

...Skies have been pretty sweet here too...

Whether in the Mountains or the Hills
We just have to look up!

Dear Family and Friends,
~ Enjoy your view wherever you roam ~
Have a wonderful and restful weekend too!

We Go Way Back

We met in 1973.
Freshman year at the University of Albany.

A year later we were dating.
Something inside of us knew that this was it.
...it felt so right...

Ann's prompt to write a love letter {for June's marriage theme} had me browsing through old love letters Chris and I sent each other
...way back...

This is part of a letter that Chris wrote to me spring semester '76 while I was studying in France.
The photo was taken in the Bio {Biology} garden in 1977.
The trees were very young...as were we.
{I was 21}
This spring, Chris and I took a walk on campus, as we sometimes do.
It's a beautiful campus with flowers, fountains, memories.
I was taken aback when I rounded the corner to see the science buildings

...the Bio garden was in full bloom...

Dear Chris,

This garden has flourished and become more stunning over the years.
The magnolia trees and rhododendrons are glorious.

How wonderful is the memory ~ the connection
of us and this beautiful place.

...my sweet and gentle man...

We go way back,

and it still feels so right.
~ After almost 32 years, I can say with the whole of my heart ~

I love spending time you
I love walking with you
I love you!

Wednesdays in June, Ann is encouraging us to write about marriage.
Stop over and see what people are writing !

Have You Met Ann?

One of the first people that I met
in this ocean of beautiful photographs and writing
The story was Power Source.
{part two here}

I printed this story and read it to everyone in my family.
Today I read one of her recent posts; it was so amazing, I had to share it.

I visit Ann's posts almost every day.

Her stories, her faith journey, her pictures that speak 1,000 words
the sweet piano solos
nourish and affirm.

I am grateful to have found her.

"In the experiences of a simple/crazy life,
farming Canadian dirt, raising
half a dozen exuberant kids,
stringing sheets out on the line....

I'm praying to slow and see
the sacred in the chaos,
the Cross in the clothespin,
the flame in the bush.

Just a bit of
listening, laundry, liturgy...

I met some of my dear blog friends through Ann's Gratitude Community.
Thank you for being there

-:¦:- Why They Fish -:¦:-

This Dad knows why he loves to go fishing with his children

Many men go fishing all of their lives
without knowing that it is not fish they are after.

-:¦:- Finding the Essence -:¦:-

"It is not that love is blind.

It is that love sees with a painter's eye,

finding the essence that renders all else background."

A quote from a wonderful writer,
Robert Brault

-:¦:- Diamonds are Made -:¦:-

...under pressure...

high pressure
high temperature
depths of up to 120 miles
one billion years

-:¦:- a diamond rises -:¦:-
to the surface through deep volcanic eruptions

There is a metamorphosis.

. . . Pressure and opposition come into our lives . . .
within they carry  divine opportunities.
Stay Alert!

Don't miss these divine opportunities.

His and Hers

. . .This is my weekend. . .

I'm putting together a SURPRISE scrapbook for Rachael & Juan.

This was Chris' weekend.
Hiking in the Adirondack high peaks with Jason
in sunshine {Friday}
and in pouring rain {Saturday}
While they slept in the lean-to,
I watched "Julie and Julia" wrapped in my cozy comforter.

thinking about how delicious real butter is
and how dreamy these dried flowers will look in the scrapbook.

Chris and Jason are back from their adventure.
. . .
Rachael and Juan are due in tomorrow.
~ with adventures of their own to share ~

With a Grateful Heart
for all
His Blessings,
~ and wishing you many blessings of your own ~

Effervescent Joy

They smiled ear to ear
heart to heart
and it

They jumped for joy
because it was a contagious joy.

We had the time of our lives!

Thank you all, so much,
for your sweet thoughts and prayers for a
wonderful day!

 It all came true.
