A Vintage Secretary {a place for everything}

Look what came home with Maria last weekend.

If her teapots and pink dishes could talk they'd say
they're lovin' it inside this ol' secretary

~ which is vintage just like they are ~

It doesn't match Maria's house ~ but it matches Maria.
And now there's a place to write pretty letters while sipping tea

{The hand painted stationary was made by my sister for our first anniversary in 1979}

I'm looking forward to a wonderful week off from work.
It starts tomorrow afternoon with a 3-day trip to my father's.
My sister and I will talk and laugh and enjoy time with our Dad.

Then I'll come home on Sunday
and find stationary and cards that are not in their place,
and introduce them to their new home.

Wishing you joy and much laughter,

{sharing something for Friday Pretties at Joyce's blog
and something for Beverly's How Sweet the Sound ~ Pink Saturday post}

I can really feel and relate to your excitement. I've recently inherited my Grandmother's secretary! Yes and I love the little key.
Enjoy time away with family. Return refreshed. Dixie

Your secretary is a beauty, Maria, exactly the right size too! Your dishes really do look happy in there. I can picture you almost sitting at that lovely petit desk writing cards and letters to family and friends. I will send you some Dutch cards along with the flower seeds in a couple of weeks.
To be a week off of school must give a great feeling. Have a safe trip to your father's and do enjoy every moment spend with your sister and dad. Sweet moments you will be looking back at in the far future.
My weekend will include family and festivity too, I am making soup, baking a cake and tonight I will put up the banners and balloons, cause tomorrow the festivities are off with Quinten turning 3.
Have a wonderful time ahead, Maria xxxx

Isn't it fun to get a new treasure. I actually have my grandparent's secretary and it is very similiar. I keep seeing them popping up on blogs and I'm thinking I should pull her out of hiding in my "office/daughter's room" and make her look pretty in the living room.

Have a wonderful visit with your sister and your dad. I know how special those moments can be:)

Oh that is so lovely... and the cups and dishes look so happy. Love the stationery.

I use my watercolor cards to send notes and I love writing out letter...the computer is good for some things, but personal notes need to be in your own hand.

Love visiting your blog,'s so warm and inviting.

Happy Pink Saturday Maria Sweetie...
Oh what a beautiful piece you have found. I love this secretary desk. It is absolutely exquisite. What a beautiful way to display your china. I love seeing the cups and saucers and the little teapots inside. That little blue bird tea pot is stunning. It just hopped right out and grabbed the old heart. I love it.

Hope you have a wonderful week off. Enjoy your visit with your family sweetie. It is always fun to visit with family.

Many hugs and so much love, Sherry

I had no idea that you use the word secretary for this piece of furniture. We call it a bureau, but I have never seen one with a cabinet on top of the lower part.
