Sky Watch Friday ~ The Seagulls of Glimmerglass

The first thing my husband and I noticed when we walked through the beach entrance at Otsego Lake ~ Glimmerglass State Park in New York...
was the flock of seagulls alighted on the rooftop.
Having been there before, we knew that they would take flight any moment
...and that we would have a great photo op!
and then... it happened!
A Sky Watch Friday Dream!
The price I paid... I will not show you ...
The camera was temporarily unavailable since Maria was in the ladies' room cleaning it up!
Leave it to say, my husband and I were very lucky that our hair and clothes did not need washing, but I'll never look at my camera strap again without remembering this picture!

Quote from husband: "It sounded like rain!"

  2. Beautiful!
I remember when the kids were much younger and we were on the small balcony of a hotel in Traverse City...our daughter Avery, who had to be about 9 years old, reached out and grabbed one of the seagulls from the balcony edge! AAGGHH! I think my screams were scarier than the seagull! She quickly let him go!

  6. Ya gotta love gulls. We stopped at a beach while in Seattle, and the gulls came out of nowhere when a kid walking the strand pulled out a bag of potatoe chips...

  7. Oh, Maria, I did get a laugh about the camera and clothes and your husbands comment is priceless! That being said, your captures are fantastic. And, yes, you gotta love the seagulls -- EcoRover tells it all about Seattle and we do have more than our share of seagulls everywhere!!

Have a great weekend! Be careful when you look up -- you might have to change the saying "here's mud in your eye"!

  9. You were very lucky to be able to capture the sea gulls like this. I am sorry you had to go through all the mess, but it made a great Sky Watch Friday post.
