The Art of Waiting

Dad and I had great conversations this weekend.
No matter our age, parents can still impart so much wisdom.
Today, he talked about

~ The Art of Waiting ~

waiting
for school to begin
for school to end
for the right job
to retire
 for the right person
to save enough money
for good food to cook
patiently for your turn
to heal
to understand God's answer

There's a fine art to
waiting
~ a delicate patience ~

Lord, may I learn that the fine art of
waiting
is knowing that each moment
each now
is in itself a prize.

  7. Ah yes Maria. We seem to be in the "school of waiting." I am trusting that not one of those moments is wasted. The Father has purpose in everything - even waiting.
    This was beautiful.

  8. Maria-I need to find a way to frame these words. Waiting isn't something I do well at all. I don't wait well in doctor's offices, or for packages I order or for anything really. I need to work on this one!

  11. Maria, This post is so wonderful - I'm shaking my head in agreement! Patience is "delicate" and the control it requires is easily broken.

  15. What a blessing ~~ Conversations with your Dad. I miss that so.

I have learned through many trials, and difficulties, that "waiting" is truly a gift, and accomplishes much if we are willing to do it.

Thanks again, for inspiring us with your words of wisdom!

  16. Your beautiful post today reminds me of a quote I just read: There is no friendship, no love, like that of the parent for the child. -Henry Ward Beecher

Your dad is a special and wise man...:) Enjoy this gift from God...your Dad!

    Have a wonderful day!

  19. Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today. Sometimes there is no tomorrow. Waiting is not my thing. I am short on patience and wish I was not. I am working on it tho.

  21. You and your dad . Your words are always filled with love .
My dad died when he was 63 . I cannot imagen how it would be to still have a dad . But I do remember both my grandfathers and they were very special ! and old !
I also remember how my mother loved her father ( my grandfather ) who lived with us for a couple of years after my grandmother died . I still have his pipe and ash-tray.
Thank you for sharing and making me remember these things .
All the best for a wonderful weekend .
