Fresh, crisp sheets. There's nothing like the smell and feel of them.
I love hanging laundry...
I've been late to work because I will take the time for it.
There's something natural and earthy about it...
...the line ~ connecting women and time...
My mother, my grandmother...
...Prayers for the person who wears the clothes I'm holding...
who snuggles in the sheets that are drying in the breeze.
Have you ever left laundry in the rain? That's even better...
Rainwater soft is a real thing!
With all the talk, I wonder who's really living green?
I hope our outspoken politicians and movie stars air-dry their laundry!
I know many of us have ... for a long time...

I try to do my part...composting as much as I can, recycling or repurposing things, and yes...a "clothes line" too!
ReplyDeleteYou are so right...there is just something warm and loving about having laundry swaying in the breeze and drying naturally...a shared tradition of women...maybe it was a time for quiet meditation in the past...it's just such a peaceful thing to do.
I hang my clothes out whenever possible....even in February, if the weather is OK. And here in Michigan we don't have a lot of OK days in the winter! When I can't hang outside, I hang what I can in my laundry room. There is nothing like the smell of line dried sheets on the bed!
ReplyDeleteI love hanging laudry, however for years we had no dryer and in the winter we had to go to the laudry mat so I was finally grateful to have the dryer! But I still love the smell of sheets hanging out!
ReplyDeleteGreat way to go... I just don't wash my clothes anymore.... just kidding.
ReplyDeleteThat is the main thing about housework that is not a chore to me. I have always loved to hang out the wet wash and also bring it in at sunset beautifully forlded while I have the double bonus of watching the sun set and the glorious smell ofline dried, wind blown clothes.... I always take my time while folding them to stretch the enjoyment just a little longer and savour my little meditation space.
