Autumn is 'Leaving'

~ Autumn walks ~
Beauty hardly imaginable

Colors beyond compare
But, the trees are almost bare.

Our early Saturday walk revealed autumn trees
that had lost most of their leaves.

A few stood proud ~ still full and glorious.

Those multiple layers of leaves on the ground,
are almost as beautiful as when on the trees.

The creek flowed with last week's rain
and carried some leaves away...

"See you next spring,"
I said...
"See you next spring."

Have a wonderful week everyone!

  1. Same here Maria, our trees changed overnight it seems, dropping their colorful dressings, most of those beautiful hues are history now.

  2. Hi Maria,
The way you followed that one perfect leaf through the stream was riveting - I watched the video a couple times. Goodbye 'til spring, indeed!

  4. I am so thankful that the Lord has given us seasons and that they continually remind us of His unchanging faithfulness. Winter is coming, but spring is right behind!

  5. We have had some really glorious colors this year too Maria. I did get some photos but have been having trouble posting from my camera lately.
Your post was very poetic and made think about how quickly fall passes into winter. I wish it could last a little longer!

  6. The last week of October is usually the peak of our fall color season here in the South. The colors were just gorgeous--for a few days--but heavy rains caused many of the leaves to fall prematurely. We still have some pretty colors to enjoy, just not as many.

By the way, I love the photo in your blog topper. Just beautiful. :)

  7. Hi Maria,

I'm surely hoping that all your students remember "unforeseen!" What a good use of the sign...

  10. I have a hard time finding things I like about winter weather, so it makes me sad now that the time has changed, the leaves are falling and a chill is in the air. I think this winter I may be so busy blogging that I won't have time to be depressed!
