I've heard Rachael Ray talking about it all the time...and thought that all Parmesan cheese was the same until my cousin, Saro, explained it to me! It is only Parmesano Reggiano if it comes from that region of Italy. We treated ourselves to it at $12.99 a pound.
My reasoning was this...

Why not enjoy fabulous cheese at home with our pasta! I checked with my cousin in Italy to see if I indeed purchased authentic Parmesano Reggiano cheese... ~I did~

Wonderful, makes me hungry just looking at it. Time for a bowl of mac and cheese.... cheap mac, expensive cheese.
ReplyDeleteIt is a staple at our house. Used almost daily, it adds such wonderful flavor to nearly everything I make. Just used it tonite on homemade focaccia.
ReplyDeleteMmmm Focaccia ... Haven't made that in a while... I'm usually baking bread dough for breakfast rolls ... I'll definitely have to make some dough this weekend and leave the cinnamon in the cupboard, and get out the pepper, oregano and parm reggiano :) Maria
ReplyDeletewe always have Parmeggian Reggiano in casa! I especially like it with slices apples and some good wine, sitting on my back porch watching the birds...mmmm....now you've got me craving...
